Instagram post 2230199712261568797_5435670396 🙏🏽PERSONAL POST🙏🏽 FAIR WARNING, I HAVE SHED LOTS OF TEARS TODAY OVER THIS, SO PROCEED WITH CAUTION ⚠️ Soooooo here’s the thing...We are supposed to be on intake hold. For, like, a long time so we can get caught up on our medical bills. Because we are drowning 😭 Every single day we are contacted about animals needing help. Every day. Numerous times a day. And we have to turn a blind eye to them because we just don’t have the money to pay for their care. If any of us were rich, we would never say “no” to another animal. We rely solely on donations, we get no other funding. And when we go intake hold, sick and injured pets in Oklahoma shelters lose their lives 💔 it’s just a fact. A crappy, hard, stupid fact. What is ALSO a fact, is that no matter what, no matter how far behind we are, or how much we are struggling, we could not let these two dogs, who were both surrendered to shelters this weekend, lose their lives, scared and alone, just because their owners couldn’t provide the care they needed. So although we have absolutely no idea how we will pay for their surgeries, these two dogs are NOT being euthanized today. So with completely blind faith, that some sort of miracle may bestow good fortune upon our little, ridiculous mission, we would like to welcome this senior pit bull and tiny puppy into our program. Ok BRB Crying 😭

Instagram post 2226478976858445616_5435670396 Day 4️⃣ of working with Serena 😻 Remember, she came to us with her 8 babies after she suffered trauma or strangulation that caused her to have a FRACTURED NECK 😡 She is unable to use any of her legs due to the injury but she is getting stronger and stronger every day. She has put up such a fight and we are so hopeful she will be able to walk again! Talia has now gained over 30 pounds 🙀 And is happy as can be! Now to just get rid of those pesky heartworms 😽

Instagram post 2225923713579429596_5435670396 Well if it wasn’t for bad luck, we would have no luck at all 😞 We brought Boomer into our program because he was brought into a local shelter with a congenital birth defect, causing one of his eyes to not develop. So, ok, let’s get him fixed up and find him a special home, right? We wish. This weekend, Boomer broke with parvo. He is now fighting for his life in the hospital where we want to do anything we can to save him. But we are behind. One medical disaster after another, we are desperate for help. He is a 2 year old American Bulldog who came to us when he was in danger of being euthanized at a local shelter for mange 😣 Well, when we got him to the vet, we found out he needs an FHO surgery to correct a wonky hip 😭 So SURPRISE! Instagram post 2224261525240441291_5435670396 When we were asked to help a momma dog and her 8 puppies, we knew we were in for a long haul. This is momma dog, ❤️we are calling her Serena (or Shreen). We mentioned the other day that she can’t use her front legs. So we separated her from her babies and she will be going through petty intense physical therapy in a foster home. The reason she can’t use her front legs? She has a fractured neck. From trauma 😞 We don’t know what caused this, we don’t want to let our imaginations go too dark. So we are just focusing on her future. And getting her healed 🙏🏽 Welcome Momma Serena ❤️ We love you ❤️
Instagram post 2223753217798727603_5435670396 Today we have taken in 11 sick and injured dogs. 1️⃣1️⃣ 😳 This is the most recent intake for today. I haven’t decided a name yet, but I know she’s going to be a tough one. We were contacted by our municipal partner shelter about this senior Pomeranian, found shaking in a ditch, who appeared to be having seizures. It was either we take her, or they would have to humanely euthanize her 💔 So off we go to get her to the ER. Turns out, she was likely hit by a car and has a broken spine. Now I KNOW most people would say “it’s time to let her go.” And I can TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THAT! But, you see, we have had a few alumni, Petunia, Lucy, Dharma, Blinker (just to name a few) who also came in with broken spines and each of those dogs were able to be rehabilitated enough TO BE ADOPTED (with their own custom wheelchair). SO!
